Governor
background

The Alab speed governor is a digital PID-governor working in the time-domain. No specific elements for load control or water - level regulation are available.

The theoretical background for turbine governors is rooted in mechanical-hydraulic systems. An analogue PID-governor can be made of a rotating pendulum, springs, links, levers and dash-pots.

The governor in Alab is of course basically digital due to the fact that it is a part of a computer program. Digital technique is used to simulate analogue elements.

The possibility for signal analysis in an analogue governor is limited. For a digital governor it is almost unlimited. It is simple to add functions and properties in addition to PID-Properties.
