Alab creates a proposal, and offer tools for modifying the proposal according to your opinion and displays the consequences for e.g. efficiency , submergence or head loss.
Detailed design of all wetted turbine parts, prepared for input to CAD programs. Mussel diagrams, performance diagrams and characteristics for all four quadrants are created based on loss calculations for the specific design. A default generator and transformer becomes automatically a part of the generating unit.
Alab will offer a template, you can modify and add actual nodes as Reservoir, Surge shaft, Brook intake or generic node and drag tunnels. In the Power station node install your own designed turbine. In all nodes valves, gates and trash rack may be installed.
Head losses are calculated according to Colebrook and Whiteโs friction factors. Method of characteristics determines dynamic pressure. During Plant operation turbines, valves and gates are controlled by their individual servomechanisms. Load rejection, load pick up and stability may be checked. Governor parameters are easily modified and the plant may be tested for operation in a local grid or in the main grid. Level variations in Surge shafts or Brook intakes are visualized.
Alab has a powerful module for calculating power production, mainly based on day mean run-off data. In case of a Peak Power Plant hour-mean data for production strategy will be available. Data series for up to a period of 30 years can be used. A plant performance curve combining units in an optimal way is automatically created for use in this connection. Reports with GWh, production value, reservoir level variation overflow and turbine operation time are generated
